An original signed watercolour of a young school boy pondering a problem by the artist Olive Wood. Finely executed in muted tones, possibly the original for illustration of a childrens’ story book. The painting is presented mounted and framed. Inscribed on the reverse “Miss Olive Wood A.R.M.S (Exhibitor RA) 51 Gilkes Cresent, London SE21”
Olive Wood (fl. 1914-1933) was a miniature painter and illustrator of children’s books. She trained at the Clapham and Camberwell Schools of Art and lived and worked in Dulwich Village, London. exhibted at the Royal Academy and at the Society of Women Artists.
